Hibiscus Recipes:

  •  Hibiscus Iced Tea

Ingredients

  1. 2 hibiscus tea bags, dried flowers or hibiscus powder.
  2. 2 cups water
  3. Ice cubes
  4. Honey

Method

  1. Boil the water and steep the hibiscus tea bags or flowers for 6-8 minutes.
  2. Remove tea bags or strain flowers and let the tea cool.
  3. Pour the tea over ice cubes and sweeten as desired.
  • Hibiscus Salad with Citrus Dressing

Ingredients

  1. 2 cups mixed salad greens
  2. 1/2 cup hibiscus flowers (dried or rehydrated)
  3. 1 orange, sliced
  4. 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
  5. 2 tablespoons olive oil
  6. 1 tablespoon vinegar

Method

  1. In a large bowl, combine salad greens, hibiscus flower, orange pieces and chopped walnuts.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil and vinegar to make the dressing.
  3. Drizzle the dressing over the salad and mix gently.
  4. Serve the hibiscus salad immediately.
  • Hibiscus Berry Smoothie

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup hibiscus tea (cool)
  2. 1/2 cup mixed berries (blueberries, strawberries, raspberries)
  3. 1 banana
  4. 1/2 cup Greek yoghurt
  5. 1 tablespoon honey

Method

  1. Blend hibiscus tea, mixed berries, banana, Greek yoghurt and honey until smooth.
  2. Pour the smoothie into cups or glasses and add additional seeds and nuts if desired.
